Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you have a bathroom?
A: Yes
Q: Do you have Wi-Fi?
A: There is no Wi-Fi on the boat, but you can expect the same cell signal that you get on the mainland on all of our inshore fishing trips. However, on our deep sea charters, cell service is very sparse and most times nonexistent.
Q: Is there parking?
A: There is parking available at the Camp Ellis Pier Parking lot. This is a pay to park lot. All rules and regulations of the lot must be followed.
Q: Can you customize a trip?
A: All trips are completely customizable. We work with you so that you get exactly what you want out of each trip.
Q: How many passengers are allowed?
A: Currently the Simah Down can accommodate up to 6 passengers.
Q: What do I wear?
A: This is Maine, where the saying is "If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes and it'll change." It's no different on the water. The temperature is usually 10-15 degrees colder than it is on the main land. Because of this, it is recommended that you wear several layers so you can add or remove as needed. Most trips are rain or shine, so you should also plan to bring some rain gear.
Q: What is your Drug/Alcohol policy?
A: Beer, wine and other premixed canned drinks (whiteclaw, high noon ect) are permitted. No hard alcohol please, and no glass containers. Under USCG rules absolutely no drugs are allowed on the boat. This includes Marijuana, which is still illegal under federal law.
Q: What type of fishing licenses do I need?
A: On our trips, all gear and equipment (to include fishing licenses) are provided.
Q: Can I keep the fish that I catch?
A: You are allowed to keep any legal fish that you catch. All fish that are kept will be cleaned, and bagged for you to take with you at the completion of the trip
Q: Do we go in the rain?
A: All Charters go rain or shine. As the saying goes "The fish are already wet, they don't mind." However, there are times when the wind conditions create seas that are too rough to go out in. The Captain reserves the right to cancel any charter for safety reasons. If a charter has to be canceled every attempt to be made to rebook the charter at a later date.
Q: Do we tip the crew?
A: Tips are customarily and graciously accepted for outstanding service. They work much the same way as they do in restaurants and are generally between 15-20%.
Q: What is the cancelation policy?
A: All Charters go rain or shine. If extremely bad weather requires the cancelation of a trip by the Captain, every effort will be made to reschedule on a date that works for all parties involved. If a makeup date can't be agreed upon, 100% of any deposit received will be returned. The client has the right to cancel up to 7 days before the trip and will receive a full refund of any deposit given. Any cancelation within the 7 days and the client forfeits 100% of any deposit given, unless a replacement Charter can be scheduled.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Please bring items you would typically bring to the beach: sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, sandals, clothes you don't mind getting wet, sweatshirt, snacks, waters, adult beverages. Limited water and soda will be provided. Kids 10-years-old and younger must wear a lifejacket. While we will provide a lifejacket, if you have a comfortable lifejacket it may make their trip more enjoyable.
